The following Winchester Rifle has come into my possession.
It is a model 94 30 cal. W.C.F., serial number 1120027.
Can you tell me the year it was made, and any other history
of this super rifle?
As this blog is currently not regularly maintained I was not able to respond until now.
There are no configuration records that survived out of Winchester on your Winchester Model 94. We cannot help with your search for information beyond the serial number application (SNA) date. We have SNA dates for that model from serial number 1 to 1352066. The factory letter is $40 and will only contain the date the serial number was applied at the beginning of the manufacturing process. No other information is available. Contact me directly at cfmrecords@bbhc.org or by phone at 307.578.4031

When was my Model 94 win spl 32cal serial # 1818666
is it worth anything, I purchased the gun in 1977 from a dealer on Long Island, NY. Not looking to sell it Just like to know?
Unfortunately, no records survive on your Winchester. The Model 1894 warehouse records end at serial number 353999 and the serial number application records end at serial number 1352066.
Also, accredited museums, such as ours, are not permitted to provide pricing, values, or appraisals of any kind. For a specific value you will need the services of an experienced and respected firearms appraiser who will develop a written appraisal for you for a fee. If you only desire a ball park figure, we recommend the “Blue Book of Gun Values”. It is authored by S. P. Fjestad and is widely available from your local book stores, gun shows, gun shops and libraries.
Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

HI, can anyone help or direct me to any help. I have just bought a 94 model saddle ring carbine, 32-40 caliber, serial number 247486. Is it possible to find out the date of manufacture or any other information on this gun.
Regards
John
We offer factory letters on Winchester, Marlin and LC Smith. A factory letter is an official report on the information contained in the original company records which the Museum holds. Letters are on official letterhead and bear the seal of the Cody Firearms Museum. A factory letter can be an important tool in establishing the provenance and originality of a firearm. Your serial number falls within the range of available records. A list of available Winchester, Marlin and LC Smith models and serial numbers can be viewed and printed at http://www.bbhc.org/explore/firearms/firearms-records
The contents of each letter varies with each gun but typically letters include the manufacture, shipping or inspection dates and information on the configuration of the firearm as it was in the factory. Customer information is rarely available as shipping and sales records no longer exist for most models.
The following is the current factory letter fee schedule:
Winchester/Marlin/L.C. Smith – $70 (non-member) $40 (CFM member)
Winchester SNA only – $40 (non-member) $25 (CFM member)
Winchester Model 21 – $85 (non-member) $55 (CFM member)
Winchester Model 21 Order Sheet – $30
Letters are typically delivered within four weeks of placing an order.
Order a by phone or mail. Include the following information with your order:
1. Model and serial number of firearm (if an L.C. Smith please include grade, gauge, barrel length and hammer/hammerless)
2. Name, address and phone number of purchaser and recipient (if different than purchaser)
3. Payment (credit card by phone or check by mail)
Consider membership with the Buffalo Bill Historical Center with firearms benefits starting at $150 per year. Members receive a number of free serial number searches and large discounts on factory letters as well as the option to purchase letter packages (5 letters for $175, 10 letters for $300). Contact this office or the membership office at membership@bbhc.org
I hope we can help you in your search for information.

Good Morning Jesi,
I’m looking at purchasing a Winchester model-21 skeet gun that was produced in 1937. The current owner had a factory records letter from the Cody Museum that gave a description of the gun as at left the factory. Everything on the letter matched the gun exept the stock description. The letter stated that the gun had a pistol grip and this gun has a straight (English style) stock. The gun appears to be in almost new condition and the stock looks original. Is it possible that there’s an error in the letter?
I apologize for not responding sooner. This blog is not regularly maintained. I hope you contacted the office directly with your question. In a case like this you can have the seller (letter holder) call us to double-check or call us yourself and chat with me about the issue (307.578.4031).
I am trying to find the value and more info on a 1906 winchester expert full nickel MFG 1919
serial # 568375 & 568375B IN VERY GOOD CONDITION
S-L-LR .
I want to make sure it is genuine
